Why Men should have Reflexology

Why should men have regular Reflexology.

Oh No I don’t like having my feet touched!

Oh you don’t want to touch my feet!

I haven’t got time for that!

Not for me!

What an earth is that?

How is that going to help my back? Sleep? Anxiety? IBS? Bad temper? Diet?

There are a whole list of classic responses to the notion of a man coming for Reflexology like those listed above BUT, you see, once they try it, they are a bit blown away by how relaxing and rewarding and peaceful it is for them.

My male clients are Doctors, Garden Designers, Marketing Executives, Fathers, Students, Salesmen, Athletes and Electricians as well as Primary  School pupils and Teachers. In my clients’ cases, there has come a point where their stress and discomfort has reached a point where they are willing to try anything.

From that point on they are fully invested and hooked.

What they soon realise is there are no “should” or “must” conversations, no targets, no need to be presenting themselves as anything other than exhausted, stressed, run down, angry, jumpy or in pain physically and emotionally. They discover that it’s okay to just be them for an hour or two on a egular basis where the only demand is to relax back and let someone else take care of it all. It enables them to think about the coming week with a  different perspective that brings with it a healthier mindset.

Yesterday, a 40 year old man came to me for the first time by recommendation, he travels all around the country working with many different businesses, facing many demands and time scales and experiencing deep anxiety, poor sleep and severe lower back pain. After a health consultation of 20 minutes, he was enjoying an hour of “unbelievable” peace and relaxation. He also now had some reflexology tips to bring down his anxiety and aid his sleep and having seen how much better he can feel he is already booked in for Hypnotherapy to quit smoking. Day 1 of his ‘back to health’ journey began right there.

It may strike some as a bit unnecessary to make the distinction between men and women but some of the best Reflexologists I have trained with are men who are trying to redress the deeply outmoded idea that men can’t show their feelings. Those same Reflexologists have been on the same journey to health themselves and now know how different life can be when they ensured that their mind and their body were very much connected and not separate entities. Sometimes that first Reflexology session is Day 1 on a completely new path to mental and physical well-being and clients find that those regular sessions allow them to keep on track and not fall back to old unhelpful self-sabotaging ways.

If you want give the man in your life a real lasting gift; whether it’s a dad, brother, friend, partner or grandad, it can be such a blessing to see the pain leave their faces and notice how much better they seem within themselves.
